The 2008 March for Safety will take place on Saturday, March 15th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The event will begin at Fort Walton Beach City Hall where Mayor Mike Anderson will open the March with the reading of a proclamation. The Fort Walton Beach High School Junior ROTC will then lead marchers down Miracle Strip Parkway (Highway 98) to The Fort Walton Landing on Brooks Street where several local community organizations will be on hand offering information on safety and the dangers of drunk driving. There will also be door prizes and live music at the event.
The March for Safety was started in 2003 to raise community awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. It is a day set aside to raise safety awareness in the community and remember and honor all the young lives that have been lost to tragedies such as drunk driving.
